Truths

Searching for answers
already received,
we're trying to find
what we misperceive.
We have been told
what we continue to hear
but we will not listen
to that which we fear.
We ignore truths
in favor of the dreams
we know are fantasy
that will never happen, it seems,
yet that does not slow
this machine down
that produces such delusions
that reproduce all around.
Instead our mind's utopia
that will never escape
an imaginary home
will never take shape.
The delusions will simply
grow more vivid and loud
until that which once
made us so proud
will drive us crazy
and into the ground
with nothing but remnants of sanity
lay scattered all around.
