These Breaking Dawns

A day of doubt
followed by encouragement
to heal the wounds
and fill in the left dents,
the darkest days
need these breaking dawns
to silence the thunder
and calm the storms.
The amazement is palpable
of God's timing
to bring these lights
when the will is dying
but He never lets down
and is always present
even through the storms
we are convinced aren't meant.
The bringing of
the fruit for which
we tirelessly labor
is never the glitch
and always when
we need it most,
the blessing of
the Holy Ghost.

The Model

I want to be the best.
I want to strive to work harder,
to exert my energy,
to teach them we can be smarter.

I want it to be known
adversity can be quite a brood
but they can deal with anything
as long as they have the right attitude.

I want to show how to have fun,
to let loose when the time calls
and when the moments appropriately rise,
to laugh so hard, to the floor they fall.

I want to guide our kids
to show them God's idea of a man,
to show them the world's way
is nothing compared to His plan.

I hope and pray they know
God will carry them if they have faith,
as long as they do their best
He will keep them on the narrow path that goes straight.

But most importantly...
I want to show them how to love,
to show them nothing can have such an impact -
to show them happiness comes from a heart
that puts others above itself, to prove that's a fact.
I want it to be taught and never forgotten,
and for them to avoid, at all cost, any infractions.
I want this lesson to be learned and to be lived
through my life as they do through their actions.

Consequential Lies

The coward you are
hurts my soul.
You tell us all
that you found the holes
in the story that is
as pure as Christ,
something you also
dispute as lies.
You say our belief
is a sham we may
or may not know
is the lie we lay.
You throw out ridiculous
hypotheses to scare
others of standing
for what they care.
You gather statements
from others so lost
to push your agenda
of lies that eternally cost.
You try to stumble truth
with a different argument
than the one at hand
that you ignore so constant.
You try to tangle
others in their lies
to hide your very
own deceptive disguise.
You spout your opinion
as if it is fact
with as much lack of proof
as that which you attack.
You rail against a faith
because of the hate
found in your heart
that you use to bait.
You do this all
without an explanation why
and without the knowledge
that one day we all die
and have an eternal Father
to whom we must answer
and report on our lives
for both the good and the cancer.

There is still hope
for all of us to turn
from that which will cause
our souls to burn
and though it may not sound
as if I care
I truly hope and pray
that Satan does not take you there.

Prize

We all have doubts
from time to time
but that does not mean
there is no faith in mind.
Just because feelings
of inadequacy rise
does not mean unfaithfulness
is our newest prize.
We will all find ourselves
in predicaments here and there
but we also realize
there is a God who cares.
Moments will arise
when we want to speak
words of depression
that our hearts seem to seek.
However that too shall pass
as we fall into God
at moments we feel the faintest
and the most at odds.
His giant, gentle hands
will catch us as we fall
as we, His most cherished prize,
will be seen through it all.

Storms

Why don't we sit in the rain?
Why can't we enjoy what we rail against?
The freedom gained and knowledge bestowed
by resting in the eye of the storm
can cause a life all the difference.
Walking the earth with a mindset
that is convinced this "universe" is our enemy
will cause a subject to only live for one's self,
to prosper on its own time and own place
but chained with a soul that will never be freed.

Perhaps this storm is a blessing.
Perhaps branches falling are much needed.
Perhaps that which scares and pushes us
to a limit from which we were convinced we could not return
serves to show the "universe," known as God, won't allow us to be defeated.
Perhaps it is only when we realize we need a storm
that we can have the trust that it will fade.
Perhaps the fear the rain won't pass
and that the wind will carry us away
is precisely what caused this storm to stay.

Though the wind may be chilling
and water droplets may annoy,
the storm is forever passing,
the rolls of thunder are always fleeting,
and flashes of lightning just a ploy.
When it is all finished,
as it will be as quickly as it started,
we will come out both blessed and protected,
shown no storm, trial, tribulation, or anything of the sort
will strike or consume the souls that are eternally guarded.

Color Scheme

Bright, breezy, blue,
green, grassy, galvanizing,
plump, pink, promising,
round, red, revitalizing.
White, flowing, flowery,
solid, brutalizing, browning,
tall, black, built,
orange, frivolous, frowning.
Purple, discarded, junk,
boxy, olive, useful,
bounding, restrictive, neon,
peaceful, yellow, fruitful.

The scene that surrounds me, in every color:
God's creation, second to no other.
