A return to normalcy,
the highs no more
and the lack of lows
what I adore,
the even keel,
the comeback to
the simpler times,
what I once knew,
the hills flattened
and excitement gone
from the ecstasy
that couldn't last long,
the depression downed,
a limiting of sadness,
the limiting to bring
an unlimited gladness,
the special days once
controlling every second
now in a rear view
making no mess of it,
the balancing act,
the tight rope trick
ready for me to
complete and stick
and welcomed with
open and hospitable arms
ready for the bland
and most boring of no charms.

A Smile to Hide
The smile to hide her own depression
caused on her own accord,
caused by her own oppression
that she can no longer afford,
she drinks the smile on
a face that droops so low
awaiting a friendlier dawn,
somewhere friendlier to go.
Her partners in her crime
grab onto coattails
hoping they'll rise in a prime
only to see them further fail.
She pulls her friends onto
the rapidly sinking ship,
a blockade her friends can't break through,
onto the inevitably final trip.
There may be a chance
to be saved somehow
but she doesn't give it a second's glance
as she's resigned to her fate now.
She's driving herself down
deep into the ground
as everyone watches her frown
have no inkling to turn around,
but instead this sad saga concludes,
ending on the saddest of terms:
it's all done with the expected news
of another soul's desires causing it to burn.

Angry and Overwhelmed
They are all having fun, yet she couldn't look angrier.
They are content and she just wants to escape.
They are ecstatic for this opportunity
as only anger is seen and on her face is draped.
They are overwhelmed with the joy that flows,
yet she is bogged down with her depression.
Their complete satisfaction almost seems to place
upon her an overwhelming, unfair, yet irreversible oppression
and they will continue to roam and run circles
around a life that they couldn't find more easy
while she will revert and retreat further into herself
when her issues will do nothing but grow and consume her completely.

Dark Parade
The rain pours
on a dreary day,
yet another mark
of depression come their way.
They gather together,
they gather around,
the ones who live near
and others from other towns.
Seeing each other
is usually a pleasure
but today is no celebration
due to a lost treasure.
As some file in
others file out -
tears are shed
and sadness without a doubt.
They talk of a journey
that has now finished
as well as a legacy
that will ne'er diminish.
They speak of the morrow
and the dark parade
that rain will follow
from eyes under shade.
They know the grief
will follow them there
from which they will not
soon be spared.
They console each other
out of shear selfishness
so as to not be alone
with spirits and souls that need caressed.
This agony goes on
as eyes perspire
and tear glands can't
help but tire.
Their souls pray
for rest from depression
as their hearts sink
deeper into this recession.
They wish it were all
but a dream
so they could awake
and see hope's gleam.
Alas!
They close their eyes
and pray for their nightmare
to collectively end
and for their reality to be repaired.

Prize
We all have doubts
from time to time
but that does not mean
there is no faith in mind.
Just because feelings
of inadequacy rise
does not mean unfaithfulness
is our newest prize.
We will all find ourselves
in predicaments here and there
but we also realize
there is a God who cares.
Moments will arise
when we want to speak
words of depression
that our hearts seem to seek.
However that too shall pass
as we fall into God
at moments we feel the faintest
and the most at odds.
His giant, gentle hands
will catch us as we fall
as we, His most cherished prize,
will be seen through it all.
from time to time
but that does not mean
there is no faith in mind.
Just because feelings
of inadequacy rise
does not mean unfaithfulness
is our newest prize.
