Frustration, frustration,
how I know you best.
How my challenge
is to always get you off my chest.
I sit and am
thankful for your absence
until you come
in a quickest instance.
You come through
like a freight train,
like the unexpected
thunderstorm's rain,
and unleash a fury
without the slightest
warning of aggression
or sign of where the light is.
You don't have any
worry or a care
of who you demolish
on your way through the air.
You simply land
wherever you deem
and leave the host
with a need to scream.
Now you have chosen
my body upon which to prey
and as your new
home for an extended stay.
When you will leave
and when you will be depart
is not yet known
to my head or my heart
but the departure needs
to be sooner rather than later
if anything is to be left
but a giant crater.

Need for a Pillow
I don't know what sign
you need to receive
to understand how badly
I want you to leave.
I cannot tell you
how much I can't stand
you loitering around here
without a purpose or exit plan.
Do you not have another
place you could go
that would not prevent
me from my home?
Why do you not
have a place to be
that does not affect
my time with my family?
My anger is overcoming
my words and thoughts
as my actions could well follow
though they are being fought.
I am trying not to grow
as violent as I can
but there is only so much
that can be taken by a man.
My body cannot help
but to quiver and shake
as my hands become fists
in a fiery passion that can't be faked.
I am trying to block
the emotions that I
can't swallow or digest
but that still won't die.
Every sense I have,
now extra heightened,
the slightest wrong move
can bring an attack to frighten.
This fighting that I am
trying to keep within
is about to burst out
of my soul yet again.
With nothing but these thoughts
running within my soul
only a deep breath and a pillow
can make me whole.

Accidental Recipient
The frustration comes out
on an unsuspecting innocent.
The unintended target
becomes the accidental recipient.
The one attempted helper
who often threw assistance
is now the utter victim
who has an acceptable grievance.
Though he not always
succeeds in his mission
he ever rarely seems
to deserve such mistreatment.
He always has the best
of every possible intention
while his purest effort can
never be called into contention.
His truest passion available,
something so many today lack,
is the one attribute most
evident when one comes in contact.
No matter the present circumstance
he finds himself in
he discovers a way out
yet again and yet again.
A persevering spirit
too hard to find today,
he is the epitome of optimistic
in a most contagious way.
The spirit that will never quit
though the thought may creep about,
he will be around yet
for the long haul through ups and downs.
The one and often only
constant in this changing world,
with a brow resiliently unchanging
the reputation and accolade he has earned.
